Man fatally shot in the chest on Erie Street in Dorchester

Victim identified as Shamel Winston Atkins, 31, of Dorchester.

Man shot, on Erie Street, just past Washington Street, around 6:30 p.m. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died, police say.

This is Dorchester's second murder of the day.
