A man was stabbed in the shoulder at the Shaw's at 246 Border St. in East Boston around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday. The homicide unit was called in due to the severity of the victim's injuries.

First, there's the seemingly still working pay phone outside the Shaw's on Hyde Park Avenue. And then there's the page with the Latin on it, a phrase that literally means "A crow doesn't pluck out another crow's eye," which is reassuring, at least if one is a crow, but which is an old Roman saying that's equivalent to our "honor among thieves." The saying has been popping up in the southern reaches of the Athens of America for several years now.

Shoppers entering the produce side of the Hyde Park Shaw's tonight were greeted by this table featuring: Some toilet paper, some soup mixes, Milk Bones, some nacho cheese dip and a plant that looked like it could really use some water, all under blue and green balloons.
Shoppers then left the immediate area wondering what they had just seen.

A customer at the Norwood Shaw's says he's not just offended but "injured in fact" by the store-brand container of "100%" grated Parmesan cheese he bought that is filled with "adulterants and fillers," including cellulose, a wood-derived substance of nutritive value only to termites. Police are hunting a man who ran out of the East Boston Shaw's with two purloined plastic bags of shrimp, which he tried to sell at a nearby restaurant, only to be rebuffed, so he went into another restaurant to try to offload the shrimp, only they apparently didn't think his offer was kosher, either.
The suspect is described as white or Hispanic, wearing a blue hoodie over his head, and carrying two bags of shrimp. He was last seen heading towards Chelsea on Meridian Street.
