It looked like a killer death storm was about to swallow up Boston late this afternoon. That John Gage was able to post this photo strongly suggests it didn't.
It did, however, get pretty intense in places such as Chelsea and Melrose:

Readville, actually, and I swear I just saw a girl bicycle by with a little dog in a basket.
Winds picked up a little later, but no significant rain

At the Hyde Park Jazz Festival in the Martini Shell, the DCR ranger allowed the show to go on, but only if the audience moved fully into the open grassy oval facing the shell, and away from all of the surrounding trees.

I was up in Revere for the hail and sideways rain, but the big maple limbs down in my backyard when I got back to Readville indicate some real wind.

I left before dark, but we didn't see anything about a cancellation before we left. I have to wonder what the rain and hail did to the sand sculptures!

High winds, hail, tree damage in Medford

We got a microburst. Lots of trees and powerlines down. I didn't get any damage to my property, but we did get hail pelting us after the wind stopped blowing straight down like an invisible swimmer doing a cannonball.
My neighborhood had one tree split in half in the downdraft phase, which lasted about a minute. Very odd thing.
Meanwhile, the temperature dropped from 93F to 71F in the course of 15 minutes. Explains the atmospheric violence.
Kudos to John Gage for the photo
