The Atlantic considers 20 years' worth of "Thomas M. Menino, Mayor" signs in thousands of locations across this great city of ours and talks to a Walsh spokesperson, who says the Mayor to Be plans to replace just one sign - in the City Hall lobby.
“Mayor-Elect Walsh ran a campaign focused on improving education, strengthening public safety, and supporting economic development in Boston,†Norton told me. “Changing signage is not on the priority list right now."

I think we should just make up stickers that say "Former" and plaster those all over the signs.
Would that be defacing public property or is it just civic volunteerism?

Let's just keep doing it. We'll make that a permanent feature on our signs with the intention of fooling future archeologists into thinking that Mumbles was our everlasting god-mayor or something.

Knowing local politicians they'll get rid of the number entirely. Why solve a problem when you can move a goalpost far more easily?
