Melrose Police report arresting a Melrose man early this morning after, they say, he led officers on a careening chase that ended at the Malden River, where he drove into the water - on the rims that were all that were supporting his pickup - then got out and swam away, all the while taunting the firefighters trying to save his alleged drunk ass.
John Kellum, 42, was taken to a local hospital, where police then charged him with OUI, fifth offense, driving with a revoked license, operating to endanger, failure to stop for police, multiple counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (car) and leaving the scene of an accident.
According to police, officers responded around 1:30 a.m. to Spear Street on a report of a drunk guy causing a commotion. The officers found Kellum in a pickup - and two cars he had crashed into. Then, police say:
[He] rammed one of the responding Melrose Police Cruisers before driving off, leading Melrose Police, who followed and maintained visual contact at a safe distance, into the City of Malden. There, Kellum allegedly drove at another Melrose Police Cruiser, causing the officer to swerve and strike a curb, causing a tire to separate from the wheel.
The impact of the crashes and trying to elude police also caused multiple flat tires on Kellum's vehicle, and he continued driving on the rims.
Police say he didn't stop at the riverbank:
[He] waded out in waist-deep water. The Malden Fire Department responded to assist him, but he swam away from them and taunted the responding firefighters. He finally was pulled from the water taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Innocent, etc.

Police and fire rescuers won this round with Darwin, but after 5 rounds, the fight doesn't seem over yet.

In state government and in the courts. Make laws to get people like this executed cheaply and quickly already. California would have sent him away for good for the third DUI. California has bigger balls than us in punishing criminals. Unbelievable.
It's ghoulish, but I have to root for this scumbag to mow down a legislator's kid or a judge's kid, because that's the only way people like this are going to be stopped.

and register as a user here on Uhub, I'll be the first one to remind him of his idiocy.
Until then I'll guess we'll just have to continue to use you as an example of how exposure to alcohol and it's subculture turns some people into aimless, ball less pussies who probably vomit at the sight of blood, but has no problem demanding the government do something he would never have the balls to do himself.

What they do in Turkey if the law-enforcement people catch an intoxicated driver is to make the driver get out and walk 20 miles, to sober him/her up.

...we're not aware of? Because the one I know (and lived in for five years) doesn't send people convicted of their third DUI to prison "for good". Perhaps you're thinking of California's third strike laws, which cover violent felonies (mostly). Three DUIs in CA would not land someone in prison for life.
Also, there are several countries that execute people "cheaply and quickly", and (shocker) none of them are what we consider nice places to live.
Really?

Mon, 01/05/2015 - 12:54pm
Could have sworn it was any three felonies.
Violent felonies...
By MatthewC
Mon, 01/05/2015 - 2:33pm
But probably extremely serious not violent felonies. The bottom line is that three DUIs don't send someone to prison for life in California.
Why shouldn't it?

What part of "don't drink and drive" do people not understand? The "don't," the "drink," the "and," or the "drive?"
I've gone my whole life without committing a crime. What's a felon's problem?
