This theater features in Kate Racculia's Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts (although not by name, if I remember correctly). The book is a fun Westing Game-style trip through Boston.

I read about this a couple years ago and thought what a great place for a music venue. I understand the difficulty of placing emergency exits and ventilation and such, but the photos evoke exciting ideas of having that space come to life.

I just read an excellent novel by Joe Peters that deals with the abandoned subway tunnels and Steinert Hall being flooded by a greedy real estate developer to get rid of the homeless who live in the tunnels. The novel also deals with climate change and how it will effect the MBTA.
