I snarl softly to myself every time I pass under the Silber footbridge over Storrow. I'm still emotionally scarred, and don't regret my vote for Bill Weld AT ALL.

where the Republican was to the left of the Democrat, will never happen again.
It's still amazing it happened at all.
And I heard from someone on the BU faculty at the time that BU faculty and employees voted for Silber to get rid of him. True or not, that shows the feelings about him.

That election is the only reason I hold onto the mythology that I am not a rabid partisan -- I COULD vote for a Republican, if they were the better candidate. I mean, in this case? They were. Ever since? Nah.
