WBUR reports the death of longtime Boston Housing Authority Administrator Bill McGonagle, 67.
McGonagle, himself born in public housing, was administrator for ten years, after working at the BHA for 30 years before that, and oversaw an effort to rebuild BHA complexes through deals with private developers, in an era when the federal government stopped paying for public-housing construction. He retired this summer.

housing agency by balancing the needs of BHA residents while navigating nonsense that came with federal nose pickers and less than sincere politicians. After the speeches and proclamations made by "officials", Bill made things work with respect to residents, regardless of race or ethnicity or politics. RIP.
