Incipient Lake Maverick.
A concerned citizen files a 311 complaint about the sinkole of unusual size forming at Maverick and Orleans streets in East Boston:
Intersection is dramatically sinking. There is at least a 2 foot drop in one large area. It is only a matter of hours/days that this street collapses. Water is now pouring out from the ground.

Good time to park your old car over that spot so when the earth swallows your car the insurance company will get you a new one!

This story is all wet, a soggy excuse for journalism. I think you've reached a new low point, Adam. Just sloshing around in the news isn't real reporting. I realize you've only been doing this for a little while, so you're still wet behind the ears, but I got a sinking feeling reading this story.

Dramatic much. Streets don't just collapse from a puddle.
You’re right.

This intersection has some very heavy construction happening right now—the “lake†in question has a building going up on one side, and a giant pit on the other. For a while the street was straight up closed off to traffic and large trucks and equipment sat there 6 days a week. Plus BWSC tore up the street replacing water and sewer lines earlier this year. The intersection has been sinking for the better part of a year, this water isn’t helping.
