Michelle Wu and Josh Kraft we already knew about. But there might be more names on the preliminary ballot in September.
Civic activist and longtime Boston Bengals organizer Domingos DaRosa has filed paperwork with the state to organize a mayoral run this fall.
CommonWealth Beacon reports Tom O'Brien, who headed the BRA under Tom Menino, then became a developer who helped change the Boston skyline with the Bulfinch Crossing towers, is also considering running.
And then, because this is 2025, of course we have Jaha Hughes, who is anti-immigrant, anti-trans and anti-abortion, but pro-armed teachers.

I thought initially that this was Wu messing with Kraft but her team took a swipe at him right out of the gate. Also Kraft and he have a lot of mutual connections. There is nothing to gain by his just jumping in to mess up Kraft. It most likely is their mutual network looking to shop around to test how strong Kraft is and if he needs to be replaced.
Still no contest

Wu wins by a respectable margin.

First off DeRosa is a certified lunatic. I’ll never forget being at a Mayors Coffee Hour in Dorchester and he was being lead around by a very aggressive and mean pit bull. He was also on the stage for Kraft.
This shows me that ppl believe Kraft is running to far left and will get wiped out by Wu. That opens a lane for O’Brien to get to final by gathering all moderate votes. Kraft done for before he even began.
You're conflating two different Cape Verdean activists

You're talking about Joao Depina. Two different outspoken Cape Verdean activists.
Domingos tried to attend the Kraft event and was turned away by security at the door because it was invite-only. Depina was on the stage.

Yes, you are correct. Thank you for the clarification. No comment on DeRosa as I have not had the pleasure. Depina is the certified lunatic.

Interesting.
Will legacy establishment media just report this time, or will they decide in advance who's worthy of contending and make sure they shut out anyone else from coverage and public consideration, like last time?
The media will give each candidate a token mention

The Globe will grant reasonable space to legitimate, viable candidates. Obviously the Globe's opinion of WHO is viable carries an outsized value. (I'm sure the Herald operates similarly, but as a non-reader I can't actually say that.)
