A Suffolk Superior Court judge today sentenced Damien Knighton, 41, of East Boston, to 9 to 12 years in state prison following his conviction earlier this month for sexually attacking four men at the MGH Back Bay Health Center, 388 Commonwealth Ave., in 2023, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. The Supreme Judicial Court ruled today that a state law that generally protects government agencies from lawsuits over the actions of employees doesn't apply to the case of a Lynn-area bus driver who once left the wheel while his bus was still moving to attack one passenger and who left his bus in a blizzard to beat a man in the street who had rapped on the door to ask how to get a bus back to Boston. The Supreme Judicial Court ruled today that one of the men convicted of murdering Deondra Lee were sitting in lawn chairs outside their Dorchester home to watch July 4th fireworks in 2018 got a fair trial and so will remain locked up without the possibility of parole for the rest of his life. WCVB reports a trolley near Park Street apparently rolled backwards into another trolley around 7:30 p.m. The trolleys were evacuated but there were no injuries. The Boston Fire Department responded, but left after determining it was a minor incident - although WCVB reports service was halted between Park and Government Center for about an hour.

In 1954, Joseph Welch, an attorney with the Boston firm of Hale and Dorr, began demagogue Joseph McCarthy's downfall when, representing the Army, he tore into the bully from Wisconsin and his toady, Roy Cohn, for going after a young associate at Hale and Dorr as an alleged Communist. "Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last?" Welch began.

Kennedy Jr.,  for a ukase under which a federal health-care agency has removed "peer reviewed articles" they wrote from a patient-safety Web site because they contained the words "LGBTQ" and "transgender."
